Smoke Shops Shutting Down

We are approaching September, the start of fall, and the beginning of a major crackdown on illicit smoke shops in New York City and its surrounding areas. In the last. 2 months we have noticed along with our customers the shutting down of many smoke shops throughout the city and in Queens and Brooklyn. While there is an active case trying to reopen some stores, the city is working hard with OCM to do whatever it takes to keep them closed and to be able to close even more.

The battle stems from the ongoing legal process being corrupted by illicit smoke shops selling marijuana products without being licensed and not paying taxes which is something the city needs. This fight of Ct and Mole has been going on for over a year as the city would close s one shop only for them to reopen the following day. A bigger issue was brought to everyone’s attention that these smoke shops are also selling illicit mushrooms and other illegal products that aren’t marijuana-based. Many of these stores have been busted for selling to underage minors and not asking for ID which can cause a major problem with the city and how it deals with selling to minors.

Now are at the end of August and many smoke shops have been shut down and will stay closed as the city prepares for another round of closing. We are noticing an uptick in orders.
